625-Hour Massage Therapy Program

The Alpena Institute of Massage offers a comprehensive and engaging program that blends the art and science of massage therapy. Our curriculum emphasizes a holistic, client-centered approach, preparing students to deliver safe, effective, and meaningful therapeutic bodywork.

Students gain hands-on experience in a wide range of manual therapy techniques while developing strong communication skills, professional ethics, and an understanding of how to support whole-person wellness.

Upon successful completion of our 625-hour program, graduates receive a diploma in Massage Therapy & Bodywork and qualify to sit for the MBLEx national board exam, the first step toward obtaining a Michigan massage license.

Course Description

The 625-hour Massage Therapy Program at Alpena Institute of Massage is a full-spectrum training experience for individuals seeking state licensure and a strong professional foundation.

Students receive hands-on, real-world education across five major areas.

 Sciences of the Human Body

This foundational coursework integrates anatomy, physiology, pathology, and kinesiology. Students learn to identify essential anatomical structures, understand physiological processes, and explore biomechanics and movement.

Skills Obtained:

Massage Theory & Practice

Students develop a thorough understanding of massage history, theory, and contemporary practice. Emphasis is placed on both technical skill and professional presence.

Training Includes:

 Pathology & Treatment 

Students explore conditions affecting the body’s eleven systems, learning the signs, symptoms, causes, and safe treatment considerations for each.

Enabling graduates to create informed and effective treatment plans.

Clinical Business Practices

This component prepares students for real-world practice, whether working for a business or establishing their own.
